At Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute, Jill Waibel, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist, offers Sculptra® to residents of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Kendall, as well as the surrounding communities, to create facial volume, fill scars, enhance the facial structure, and restore a younger, smoother complexion.
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a dermal filler and effective volumizer used to treat the loss of facial volume that occurs with age. It works by restoring the volume of the fatty tissue and bony structure of the face using microscopic particles of poly-L-lactic acid, which is a biodegradable, synthetic material. When injected, Sculptra® stimulates collagen production to create a thicker collagen matrix in the deeper layers of the skin. It is ideal for adding volume to sunken cheeks and the temporal hollows. Sculptra® is often used in combination with Botox® and other neuromodulators. At Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute, we often use Sculptra® to fill atrophic acne scars and in combination with laser treatments for best results.
Benefits of Sculptra®
Sculptra® offers the following benefits:
- Lasts up to two years
- FDA approved
- Virtually no risk of adverse reaction
- No downtime
- Reduced appearance of atrophic acne scars
- Increased volume in the face/cheeks
How Does Sculptra® Work?
Sculptra® treatments involve slowly injecting the filler into the targeted area by one of our board-certified dermatologists. They create a three-dimensional effect to restore a naturally younger looking and aesthetically pleasing appearance. For most people, two to three treatments performed six to eight weeks apart are recommended to achieve the desired look. To ensure patients remain relaxed during the treatments, local anesthesia is used on patients when necessary.
